How It Works
In Qarrot, recognition can be peer-to-peer or manager-to-employee. It can also be monetary or non-monetary. In monetary programs, users are granted a giving balance based on a property like job title. Balances are reset weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Earned points can be exchanged for digital gift cards or charitable donations.
Pricing
Subscription Fees
Qarrot has three pricing levels, with each level having different user minimums and features for your recognition program:
Basic: has a flat fee of $59 for an unlimited number of users, but only provides birthday and anniversary/milestone recognition.
Premium: $3 per user per month and requires a minimum of 20 users. Adds peer-to-peer and manager-to-employee recognition.
Enterprise: custom pricing with a 200-user minimum. Adds single sign-on and custom HRIS integrations.
Point/Reward Budget
You must add funds to your reward funding account in order for users to redeem their points for rewards. Funds can be added at any time via credit card, but requires a 3% service charge. Invoicing for rewards funding is avalailable for accounts with more the 500 users.
Getting Started
Qarrot offers a free 30-day trial for up to 10 users. Though this requires scheduling a short tutorial session with the customer success team, it makes it relatively easy to begin exploring Qarrot and getting a feel for the software.
Qarrot’s simplicity makes it easy to quickly implement. For onboarding, you can schedule a quick 1-hour onboarding session with Qarrot and be ready to go.
Ease of Use
Much like the software itself, Qarrot’s user interface is quite basic, though not unappealing. Navigating the platform is painless because the average user only has a handful of options and Qarrot does well in making it clear what those options are
Being the administrators of the recognition program, admins have access to several more settings and options, but this too, remains pain-free thanks to Qarrot’s focus on only the few fundamental things required to run the recognition program. However, the simplicity of the software means minimum configuration, customization, and personalization, making Qarrot less useful for companies with any kind of special use case.
Reward Catalog
Qarrot’s reward catalog features digital gift cards from hundreds of brands in more than 40 countries as well as charitable donations. These options can be supplemented with custom rewards created and fulfilled by the company itself.
Integrations
HRIS
Qarrot has a pre-made integration with the human resources information system (HRIS) BambooHR. This allows you to sync you user list so any changes in BambooHR are automatically reflected in Qarrot. However, you will need to setup a custom HRIS integration if not using BambooHR. But that option is only available to bigger companies who are on the Enterprise plan.
SSO
Single sign on (SSO) is only available to companies on the Enterprise plan. SSO allows your users to sign into Qarrot the same way they sign into other connected business applications.
Common Tool Integrations
Qarrot offers integrations with the two leading business chat applications: Slack and Microsoft Teams. This lets users interact with Qarrot from within tools with which they are already familiar.
Additional Integrations
No additional integrations.
Analytics & Reporting
Qarrot does not provide much in the way of reporting and analytics aside from the basics that allow you to review some of the common activity across the account.
Support
Qarrot’s primary modes of support are chat as well as email.
The help center articles aren’t very in-depth and most lack guided visual aids, but this isn’t a big problem thanks to Qarrot’s simplicity. So, their help center’s basic coverage is usually sufficient for most instances of using the software.
Additional Features
Campaigns
In Qarrot you can build campaigns around any measurable objective and award points and/or badges to anyone who reaches their goal. Progress can be tracked by allowing people to enter their own results or by having an admin enter them. There are three objective types: Ongoing (users awarded each time they hit a goal), Threshold (users awarded a single time once they reach a certain milestone), and Top Performer (one participant awarded based on having the best result at the end of the campaign).
Additional Notes
- You can publish important announcements to the feed for everyone or only certain groups to see.
- Users can add on points to existing recognition given by other users.
- Can set same-person recognition limit: maximum number of times User A can recognize User B each calendar month.
- You can set the visibility of the Leaderboard on the home page and what recognitions and awards are included in Leaderboard rankings.
The Bottom Line
Qarrot focuses on the basics of what an employee recognition software should offer. This focus makes Qarrot very easy to implement and use, but is also very limiting in how you can setup and configure it. It's a good fit for those that just need a basic recognition program that simply works, but less so for other use cases.
